In Charles' younger years he started out by writing sketches for local newspapers. When he began to write novels he would release them in installments through magazines and different newspapers. Charles Dickens' themes and his influence over the public made him a very popular author. The reason his writing was socially accepted was because his themes related to the people reading his books. Charles grew up having to work at a young age which made one of his main themes child labor. When Charles was a young boy his father was thrown into debtors prison making family debt another major theme. When family debt was a theme it was usually a character flaw of the father in the story. With these major themes coming from life experiences Charles' book became a phenomenon. Charles wrote many books until his death in 1870 due to a cerebral hemorrhage. His works consisted of A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations, A Christmas Carol, Oliver Twist, and many more.
